Cathy Dawkins is an active member with the Basha Kill Area Association, an organization that works to preserve the Basha Kill from environmental degradation.

Russell Dunn is a NYS licensed hiking guide and author of five regional waterfall guidebooks, including Catskill Region Waterfall Guide: Cool Cascades of the Catskills & Shawangunks.

Phil Ehrensaft has a doctorate in economic sociology from Columbia University. An expert in rural economic development, he also writes about jazz and classical music.

Marc Fried is an historian, naturalist, and the author of five books on Ulster County and the Shawangunk region. He lives on his small farm in Gardiner.

Gabriel Chapin is a forest and fire ecologist with The Nature Conservancy.

Carol Nelson Falcone currently writes a humor column called, “Smirk” for the Shawangunk Journal and is completing a series of children’s books and a humor novel for publication in 2010.

Cara Lee is the Director of the Shawangunk Ridge Program for The Nature Conservancy.

Chris Rowley is an experienced sommelier who has spent many years refining his wine palate. He is also the author of twenty-two science-fiction and fantasy novels.

Brian Rubin is a reporter for the Shawangunk Journal living in New Paltz. His writing has appeared frequently in Geek Monthly Magazine, the D&H Canvas, and Chronogram.

Paula Sirc is a writer and avid gardener. She has written about local issues in Ulster County for many regional publications.

Nadia Steinzor is Communications Director for the Mohonk Preserve.

Gary Van Houten is an avid nature photographer. He has taken pictures for the Basha Kill Area Association, and has been featured in the Times-Herald Record.

Tod Westlake is a writer, home-brewer, and lover of crime fiction who lives in the Village of Ellenville. He works fulltime for the Shawangunk Journal as a reporter and editor.
